Choir Orchestra

Flute
In the flute tutorial, our students learn to play the block flute. The block flute, which is a woodwind instrument, has a positive effect on lung development, and the development of hand-finger muscles (psychomotor behavior) if practiced regularly.

Piano
In the piano tutorial, our students get to know and learn the piano, which is a keyboard musical instrument, on the “organ/keyboard”. In addition, they also learn basic musical notation information and concepts. It has been proven by academic medical studies that taking piano education until the age of 9 improves the processing center of the brain. Since the sounds coming out of the digital piano/organ/keyboard are full and smooth, and there is no possibility of losing the chord, students always hear the right sounds while learning this instrument. Thus, the timbre and clearness of the musical sound help the student develop a musical ear.

Violin
The violin is the smallest of stringed instruments. In the tutorial courses, our students learn the basic note information and concepts, by recognizing the violin and the bow (arche), with correct holding techniques and intonation control.

Guitar
The guitar is a fretted and stringed musical instrument of which evolution began with the influences of the instruments known as the tanbur and the lute or the oud and ended with the modern classical guitar. In the tutorial courses, our students learn the basic note information and concepts, by recognizing the guitar with correct holding and playing techniques.

Marching Band (Drum & Trumpet Band)
Our marching band is a rhythm group consisting of drums, trumpets and bugle instruments. In tutorial activities, students get to know how to play the band instruments in rhythm. Rhythm and marching practices carried out regularly allow students to work in unity and solidarity and harmony with a team spirit.

Environment and Nature Education
This course promotes healthy life and respect for the environment and nature. The primary aim is to increase the students' knowledge and awareness about the environment and nature and encourage productivity. In this context, our gardening course provides the child with the opportunity to get to know the garden plants to be grown in our country and grow some of them in the school garden by applying the right watering and fertilizing techniques. This provides the students of the gardening branch with the opportunity to experience the stages from planting to harvest and the joy of producing and sharing.

Badminton
Badminton, which roots are traced to the Far East, came to our island in the 1990s. Badminton, which is a racket sport like tennis and table tennis, is played indoors with racquets and a goose feathered ball. It is a game that can be played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net with 1.52 cm height. The aim is to land the feather ball inside the opponent's court and score a point. Badminton enables children to play the game by using their intelligence and physical strength as well as to develop their self-confidence and team spirit.

Ballet
Ballet is a type of performance dance that promotes discipline, positive behavior, coordination, aesthetics and creativity all of which will affect the child positively throughout life. As Near East Junior College/Near East Yeniboğaziçi Junior College/Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Junior College, we lay the foundation of ballet education, which is a long process that is generally preferred by little girls at school-age. Our primary aim is to encourage the students to use movement to express music and ignite their creative expression which helps develop mental strength, social skills, and confidence.

Basketball
Since basketball, which is a team game, helps not only maintain physical fitness, but also instill leadership, communication, and concentration skills, we aim to teach the basic rules and techniques of basketball during the courses and tutorial activities and to make the child love basketball.

Gymnastics
It is the whole of movements that improve the balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and endurance of the body through methodical and regular physical exercises tailored accordingly physical capacities of the children. In our tutorial activities, we try to improve these features by teaching the basic movements of gymnastics.

Sewing-Embroidery
The main purpose of the sewing-embroidery educational branch opened in our school is to improve the hand skills of our girls, to strengthen their hand muscles and to prepare our girls for life. Our girls, who are today's children, should be able to thread the needle, sew a simple rip and button, as they will be the mothers and housewives of tomorrow.

Digital Drawing and Painting
In order to improve the creativity of our students, this activity allows our students to create digital paintings and drawings by learning and using Photoshop, which is a photo editing and manipulation software. While painting, they develop their ability to use the mouse and learn to make the images more eye-catching by using front-back relation, the balance of colors and toning. Many projects such as photomontage and filtering techniques are carried out throughout the year.

Marbling Art
The art of marbling is the art of painting with paper on water condensed with carrageenan. Its materials are tragacanth, earth paint, brush, paper, marbling boat, and us. Marbling is one of the traditional Turkish arts. Our Marbling Art course is tailored to address different age groups. In early age groups, students engage in Ground Marbling (large, tide, nightingale's nest, shawl, comb), and then at older ages, they engage in Flower marbling to paint a flower such as a tulip, daisy, poppy, carnation. They also create Hatip Mehmed Efendi Marbling varieties by using the mobility of water and suspended pigments.

After finishing marbling on paper by using various marbling techniques, we conclude our training by applying marbling on wood. The art of marbling has been proven by scientific studies to improve self-confidence and success in children. Marbling is fun and excites the children and helps them free their creativeness and make beautiful uncontrolled patterns that are amazing and unique.

Handicraft
Developing an individual's creativity starting from childhood is considered an important educational goal. The main purpose of organizing handicraft activities is to display one's own happiness and skill.

Craft activities for children;

  3. help them get to know themselves and develop their self-confidence
  4. provide them with aesthetic sensitivity
  5. boost their mental design abilities
  6. improve their problem-solving skills

  9. play an important role in the happiness of children
  10. help acquire social life and communication skills

Household Management
The aims of the household management educational branch activity in primary schools are as follows:

  1. To enable students to recognize kitchen tools and utensils suitable for our culture
  2. To gain the skills of using these kitchen tools
  3. To gain the ability to make some practical meals and desserts
  4. To develop their self-confidence

Making Science Tools
It is an educational activity that aims to further reinforce the outcomes that the students have acquired in Life Sciences and Science-Technology courses. The main goal is to help students, who have engaged in this educational activity, realize the principles of recycling and reuse and enable them to transform these into a lifestyle in the future. Since this activity promotes hands-on working by bringing theoretical knowledge into practice, it is aimed to contribute to the students' hand skills as well as their productiveness.

Photography
The purpose of the photography branch is to teach how to take pictures. Taking photos help the child develop his/her approach to people, nature, and animals. He/she becomes more sensitive and observant towards his/her environment and natural events, and the child's point of view on the events changes. The child understands the importance of photography in our lives, and by matching the concepts of "yesterday, today, and tomorrow" with photography; he lays the foundations for one of his hobbies in the future. Within the scope of our educational activities, we offer French as a second foreign language. we aim to equip our students with the four basic skills, namely reading and writing, and listening and speaking, to encourage them to communicate in French and help them develop a positive attitude towards learning a foreign language. During this educational activity, we spare no effort to provide them with information that can form the basis for their next academic life. The most important point we attach importance to foreign language teaching is to ensure "Learning without Being Aware". Including games, songs, and drama in learning activities enable the child to learn the language easily and spontaneously without being aware. In addition, while learning the language, it is ensured that they also acquire information about the history, education, and culture of the country where that language is spoken. Thus, children understand that language is a whole.

Football
It is a team sport that requires high coordination, ball control, game intelligence, power, cooperation, and team spirit. In educational activities, we aim not only to teach football through a well-designed training program that promotes ball control, coordination, cooperation, and basic technical movements but also to make children love football.

Journalism
The purpose of the journalism branch is to provide the students, who choose this branch, with information about the basic terms used in journalism and the history of journalism in our country. In addition, it is aimed to convey the news regarding the ceremonies and other activities, trips, and observations held in our school to students and parents through publication.

Graphic Design
It is to organize two- or three-dimensional visuals of text and images to convey a message, enhance an image, or visualize a thought. While doing this, we teach our students how to use the CorelDraw which is the most powerful graphics drawing and image processing program. Throughout the year, our students engage in creating logo, corporate identity (business card, letterhead, envelope), magazine advertisements, bookmarks, and menu designs.

Folk dances
World culture is a great mosaic. This mosaic consists of small building blocks. Each building block has a different color and shape. Our children, whom we want to understand the world cultural mosaic with the education they will receive, should also learn our culture and make it a part of the world culture.

Throughout the ages, we have embroidered our joy, sadness, longing, hopes into notes and figures. Our folk dance, which is an inseparable part of our culture, reflects us. In order to convey this cultural heritage to new generations, studies are also carried out in our school.

The aim of our club, where our children are physically active, is to improve the physical expressions of the participants, to ensure their socialization, to increase their self-confidence, to have a good time and to transfer our culture to future generations.

Handball
Handball is a sport that can appeal to all ages and genders. We teach our students the rules and basic movements specific to handball. Engaging in handball helps the child improve his/her strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility. It also contributes to the acquisition of characteristics and skills such as acting as a team and individually, quick thinking and decision-making, and courage, perseverance, and determination.

Sericulture
We aim to carry silkworm farming (sericulture), which is one of the best examples of Turkish Cypriot culture, to the future by teaching it to our students in order to pass it on to new generations. While teaching our culture, we aim to develop students' hand skills and encourage them to explore new areas of use.

Scouting
Scouting is a uniformed education that fills the gap between school and family. Scouting is the art of raising the child as a good person who is beneficial to society, loves people, helps them, preserves nature and the environment. The scouting activities carried out at Near East Junior College/Near East Yeniboğaziçi Junior College/Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Junior College embrace the "learning by doing-experiencing" principle and aim to help children develop as a whole; physically, socially, spiritually, and mentally.

Coding
Coding, also known as programming, is defined as the whole or a part of a series of commands written to make a computer or electronic circuit and mechanical systems perform a specific task. Programmers who understand the importance of learning programming at a young age have developed various tools and languages to facilitate this. Learning programming helps develop skills such as systematic thinking, problem-solving, seeing the relationships between events, and creative thinking.

As Near East Junior College/Near East Yeniboğaziçi Junior College/Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Junior College, our main objective in provide coding education is to help our students use technology consciously for the computer effectively without wasting their time. In addition, we aim to help our students develop their problem-solving skills by understanding the basic coding logic, nurture their logic and imagination, to raise them as individuals capable to use computer programs to produce or design products that everyone can benefit from in different ways. Our Coding program promotes technology-oriented computer use to enable our students to become aware of the necessity to be a producer, not only a consumer, of the technology.

Latin Dances
By offering Latin dances such as cha-cha, rumba, and samba, we provide our children with the opportunity to discover the fun in dancing and be fit at the same time.

Table Tennis
Table tennis is a racket sport that can be played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite sides of a table that is divided by a net. The aim is to hit the light-weighted ball over the net and land it inside the opponent's side and score a point. It is a sport that appeals to all ages. Table tennis, which is one of the sports that require intense attention, not only stimulates mental alertness and concentration but also improves reflexes. It enables children to get rid of physiological and psychological tension by using their own physical characteristics, to develop mental acuity, to make quick and right decisions, to develop morale and will, and to develop their ability to concentrate on the game for a long time.

Board Games
In this educational activity, which consists of puzzles, hangman, monopoly and many more educational games played in groups, students enjoy both playing and learning.

Old Kids Games
Doesn't it start with "Oh, where are those old games" while our grandparents tell their grandchildren about the games... They talk about how lucky the new generation children are, but they still have a desperate longing for those old games such as "hopscotch", "hide and seek", "Alayda malayda", ""Fivestones", "blindman's-buff" and "leapfrog". While reminding our traditional values to our children with these old games that are thought to be forgotten, Nostalgic Games Club provides an environment for them to develop their psycho-social, psycho-motor, mental, and emotional skills. In our activities, nostalgic games constitute the basis of learning.

Art of Painting
We aim to raise our students as creative, self-confident, productive, and aesthetically developed individuals through painting. Engaging in painting allows our students to express their perceptions, emotions, and themselves.

Chess
Chess course, which underlines the crucial role of disciplined and systematic work in achieving success, aims to help the child increase his/her concentration by focusing on the subject and develop his/her skills regarding problem-solving, planning, and foresight. Chess positively affects and develops personality and character. As a sport where age, physical development, and gender are not effective, it is an activity enjoyed by children. It promotes following the rules, playing friendly, admitting losing as he/she admits winning, celebrating the winner. Chess, which teaches not to collapse in the face of failures, but to work even harder, also teaches to be motivated towards new goals.

Ceramics

Ceramics is an art that has been practiced since ancient times. In this activity, children engage in making various objects by using and shaping clay. Sometimes they work on the figures shown, sometimes they work independently and reveal their own creative power by developing their talents.

Emotions, contact, and shaping are extremely important in the child's understanding of his body and the environment with its qualities. Clay, which is a three-dimensional object, enables the child to do this.

Woodwork and Hand Skills
Woodwork and Hand Skills Educational Activity is held 2 days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Only the 5th-grade students can participate in the activity.

The best way of learning is learning by doing. The aim of the course is to develop our students' hand skills and creativity. In our lesson, our students get to know hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers and they learn to pay attention to their own safety while working with hand tools. During the lesson, children learn that they need to use protective equipment such as masks, glasses, and gloves.

Our lesson, which requires hand-eye coordination, is very productive, especially as children create an item from scratch via their hand skills. The items produced by the children are given back to the children after they are displayed in the exhibition held at the end of the school year. Our planned activities for this academic year cover making knitting stool, folding chairs, flowerpots from car tires, children's playhouse, and flowerpots from plastic water bottles.

Tennis
Tennis is an Olympic racket sport that can be played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite sides of a court that is divided by a net. The aim is to strike the hollow rubber ball with rackets over the net and land it inside the opponent's court. Tennis is played in points: Four points win a game, six games win a set, and two or three sets win a match. There are players of all ages and all levels. Our students learn the rules and the basic movements of tennis during the training under the guidance of our competent and experienced staff. Playing tennis helps the child develop self-confidence and self-expression.

Stained Glass
Stained glass is the art of glass, in which decorative or pictorial designs are made by painting and contouring with special glass paints on glass.

Creating stained-glass and glass designs is fun for the kids. Before staining the glass, the image of the desired pattern is first put underneath the glass and the outlines of the patterns are traced on the glass with a thick black contour paint. Then the inside of the dried pattern is painted in the desired colors.

This activity teaches children to work patiently and carefully.

Volleyball
Volleyball is a game played by two opposing teams who take positions on opposite sides of a court that is divided by a high net stretched between two poles. The teams try to pass the ball over the net and land it on the court of the opponent team to score a point. When teaching the rules and basic movements specific to basketball, sports discipline, and team integrity are at the forefront.

Swimming
While providing the children with the opportunity to meet with water and have fun, we contribute to their physical development by equipping them with basic swimming skills.
