Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School bid farewell to the graduates of the 2025-2026 spring academic year with a magnificent ceremony. 49 students from the British Programme and Turkish Programme, who left their primary school years behind, experienced the excitement of throwing their caps. Families and teachers who came together to share the success of the students experienced pride and happiness together throughout the night.
The ceremony, which attracted great interest from parents, started with a dance show performed by the students together with their parents. Families and children sharing the same stage gave the audience emotional moments. The program continued with the students enthusiastically entering the area accompanied by torches. After the moment of silence and the reading of National Anthem, School Principal Canan Gürkan and 5th year student Masal Bürge made the opening speeches.
On the night during which the traditional flag handover ceremony was held, the graduation oath was recited in unison. The songs performed in Turkish and English added color to the night and received great appreciation from the audience. As part of the graduation events, students had a fun time accompanied by live music before the ceremony. The cap throwing ceremony was one of the most unforgettable moments for the students at the night, which continued with a DJ performance. While the graduation celebration ended with the cap throwing ceremony, the night was completed with a fireworks show.
Before the opening speeches, Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel’s message to the graduates was read. Emphasizing that a new and exciting page has opened in front of the students, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Fill that page with your courage, curiosity and your best aspects. I would like to thank our families who brought you to these days and our teachers who worked with great devotion.”

Making the opening speech of the ceremony, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School Principal Canan Gürkan said that students are not only successful in academic achievements. She also emphasized the importance of growing up with universal values such as love, humanity, sharing and honesty. In her speech, Gürkan said, “Let love, humanity, sharing and honesty be indispensable in your life. May your commitment to Atatürk’s principles and revolutions always illuminate your path. May your future be as strong and safe as our Republic.” Stating that the students who entered the school’s doors with small steps five years ago graduated as self-confident, well-equipped, modern and successful individuals, Gürkan said, “This is a source of great happiness and pride for our entire education family. On this special night, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School once again had the justified pride of seeing off young individuals who look to the future with hope.”
Emotional Messages from Graduates!
Expressing the pride of completing the primary school journey that they started with big dreams five years ago, Masal Bürge, one of the 5th year Turkish Programme graduates, said that teachers not only taught them but also they gave them values that they will carry throughout their lives with love, patience and guidance. Stating that they stepped into a new beginning with graduation, Bürge said that the primary school years provided them with not only academic knowledge but important life values such as love, respect and sharing. Bürge completed her speech by saying, “The friendships we made, the memories we shared and the values we gained will not be forgotten throughout our lives” and wished all her friends success in their new lives.
Eva Masal Cengiz, one of the British Programme graduates, said that while they were sad to leave primary school, they were also happy to step into a new adventure that would start in secondary school. Stating that they will continue to progress in their educational journey, Cengiz said, “We promise to follow Atatürk’s footsteps and work hard to become conscious students who are committed to their principles. We look forward to a future full of happiness and success, and we hope this beautiful night will never be forgotten.” Eran Eğilmez, one of the British Programme graduates, stated that they experienced the sadness of saying goodbye to school and the excitement of stepping into a new beginning together. Thanking their teachers for their efforts and patience, Eğilmez said that their teachers taught them to be hardworking, kind and brave individuals. Stating that they are grateful to their families for their support, Eğilmez concluded his speech by stating that they have accumulated unforgettable memories with their friends and that they look to the future with hope.
